'An Evening with Black Artists' is a gala event held annually at various performing arts centers in West Palm Beach, Florida. (2011 event held at the Alex Dreyfoos School of the Arts). The event celebrates black performing artists past, present and future, and historically, has attracted some of the world's foremost black opera stars, classical musicians and outstanding student performers, including Broadway legend Avery Sommers, celebrated Tenor Roderick George and Met Opera star Louise Toppin. The event benefits the Delta Delta Lambda Chapter of the historic and prestigious Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, whose brothers include legends upon legends: Duke Ellington, Lionel Richie, and the late, GREAT Donnie Hathaway.
