The film is set on the patriotic background of the freedom movement in India against the British rule: based on the novel 'Pather Dabi' by the Bengali novelist Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. It specifically builds on the legacy of several missions and leaders who tried to get international help to organize armed revolutions against the British. Sabyasachi (aka Doctor) is a courageous, bold, committed and very talented leader who repeatedly haunts the British, defying their jails, police, intelligence with sheer cunning. The story Goes on to show how he inspires people with his passion into the freedom movement, often changing their very lives. Thus he meets the audacious Rose Daud and brings her as Sumitra into his fold. She goes on to head a social reform society 'Pather dabi' which veils the armed initiatives of Sabyasachi at its core.
