A hairdresser and history teacher fall in love and then into a layer of complications, from linguistic, to cultural. The couple is threatened by the cynical advice of their friends. The history teacher tries to write the hairdresser songs as he arranges a concert in to win her back. In the process, a more profound realization dawns on him.
