Inthesummerof1947theCommunistleadershipofRomaniaannoyedwiththedisruptionscausedbyanti-CommunistresistancefightersinTransylvaniasendsaspecialSecuritatesquadtohuntthemdown.Theirtaskistodiscoverthehideoutsoftheseresistancefighters,lurethemoutandeitherarrestthemofkillthem.It'snotaneasytaskconsideringthefactthatsomevillagersintheremotemountainvillagesareharboringtheresistancefighters.TheSecuritatesquadledbySecuritateofficerComanalsocomprisesSecuritatelieutenantVasilacheandSergeantMarin.TheyespeciallyareafteraIronGuardLegionaire,VisarionOlteanu,aformerRomanianArmyofficerwhohasprovedtobeelusiveandhardtocapture.IntheirtasktheSecuritateteamisassistedbysomeeagervillagerswhoviewtheanti-Communistresistancefightersasasecuritythreattoregion'speace,stabilityandprosperity.
