During the 1980s, "Apostrophe" was a famous French TV talk show about books, literature and writers, hosted by showman Bernard Pivot, a former journalist. Five million to six million viewers were stunned on Friday when Bernard Pivot quietly told them the prime-time weekly talk show. The program was a free-for-all between four or five authors discussing each other's works, to the delight of the French audience. At times, Mr. Pivot devoted his hourlong show to a one-to-one interview with an author. Here is one of these special program with Marguerite Duras.
