Takashi Arimura had been working in Kyoto. After he reached retirement age, he returned to his hometown, Kagoshima, where he now lives a depressing life. But with his wife Kyoko's encouragement, he becomes aware of "drawing." Now he is taking up his paintbrush, hoping he'll reach his goal in his old age.
