Carlos Páez Vilaró was born on November 1, 1923 in Montevideo, Uruguay. He was a director and writer, known for Candombe (2001), Stranded: I've Come from a Plane That Crashed on the Mountains (2007) and Pulsación (1969). He was married to Annette Deussen and Madelón Rodríguez Gómez. He died on February 24, 2014 in Punta Ballena, Uruguay.
