James Marsland，Jimmy Marsland sang as a schoolboy with an amateur society in Cheshire, later appearing as one of the "Stars In Battledress" during World War II. After the War, he appeared in "The Dancing Years" and "Waltzes from Vienna" before joining the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company as a tenor chorister in December 1949.
